New Theatre Company Launches in Ventura

On May 7, 2019, The Beacon Theater Company (TBTC) was launched in Ventura by four local artists from Ventura and Ojai. Tom Eubanks, Steve Grumette, Anna Kotula and Howard Leader formed the new company to bring innovative, intimate plays, and to showcase new, original works to Ventura County.

TBTC’s 2019 Season will open July 12 through 28 with Joe Penhall’s comedy Blue/Orange. Their season will continue with a special production that we will announce on September 2 and will run September 13-29 and conclude with Walter Cronkite is Dead from November 1-17. The new theater company has made its home at Namba, a performing arts venue located at 47 S. Oak Street, Ventura.

Tom Eubanks, director, playwright and formerly the Artistic Director from 2004-2018 for Elite Theatre Company, joined actor and director Steve Grumette, actor and choreographer Anna Kotula, and actor and producer Howard Leader, all local artists long involved in Ventura County theater, to bring an intimate theater experience to the community.

“TBTC will be a place for actors, directors, designers and artists to create instinctively and think outside the box,” Eubanks said, “but not so far that sight is lost on entertainment. Our aim is for our patrons to leave the theater feeling good.”

The Beacon Theater Company’s inaugural 3-play 2019 Season Subscription is only $56. You save 15% on the single-ticket price of $22.
